After putting a 81/2 ft Sceptre on the back burner too long, having 2 boys 1 and 2 years old may have something to do with that, I have been looking for the 7 to 71/2 Sceptre blanks to no avail. Is there a blank with similar versatile qualities available? I have seen NOS Conolon 8ft fly blanks for sale but I don't know how they are trimmed down. Thanks for your help.

David

You may want to look for Fisher glass blanks, may not be the same exact tapers but they will be close. The Fishers will be the same type of blank as Fisher people built the factory and showed Hardy how to roll their phenolic glass blanks. I think Hardy was the source for the Sceptre line up. On this board you may try and contact "retroglass" as he has nos Fisher blanks and see what he has available.

Rv has steered you right. There is a wider range of 7 and 7 1/2s, "vintage" or contemporary, that would get you towards the Sceptre feel, but check for available Fishers first. Glassmaster, now winding down his extensive shop, knows the Sceptres and Fishers very well, might have one of either, or could steer you to something comparable from his stock. Check his ads in the For Sale section.

Thanks for the help. I will check them out. I know Andy's post on here has been very insightful with these Sceptre blanks for me.

I've acquired blanks and rods from b.l. It's definitely worth contacting him.

Enjoy! Hayden
