These rods are amazing! Light green translucent blanks (spiraled). Excellent guides and wraps. Casting 3-4 models is a great experience in the yard! I can transport with the back set of the car dropped for long items. These are really exceptional rods. Any other experiences? I have a feeling these rods will be great!

I have the 5wt. I love everything about it this far, but I haven't had a fish on yet. Soon. Very soon.

I walked the C&O Canal Sunday after church looking for carp/bass with my Prime 5wt. Spotted a couple of large carp, but got no takes. I used a WF6F Orvis Hydros line and liked how the rod loads with about 15' of line out. Really helps given the less than optimal casting conditions (trees behind, branch overhang, busy MUT). Had no problems turning over a #6 black wooly bugger with a shorter stouter leader.

I'm still getting use to the slower glass stroke, but love the feel vs my graphite med/fast 6wt rod. I really hope Cabela's would consider a 7' to 8' long one piece 7/8wt rod. I can't say how much of a benefit the one piece design is to the rod performance, but I'm very pleased. I could see myself with 2 or 3 nice glass rods and not feeling like I was missing anything from the graphite world. This Cabela's rod has really made me really re-think my fly rod wants/needs.

For the heck of it I strung up my Prime 5wt with a 7wt bass taper and the rod seemed fine with the heavier line. I hope that it feels as good on the water with a bass bug or larger streamer flies. Think I may reach for this rod often this June when I head out with my kayak.

I agree Mass. The Prime 5wt should be on folks' short list of rods to try out. I love mine. Just paired it up with a cortland 444 6wt line and it is a gem.

Guys, I bought the 6' 3 weight and it's a great caster. Really bends with the small bluegills I've caught so far. Wraps and translucent blanks are winners. Cork has some filler but I'm hoping it's durable.

I held off as long as humanly possible. Ordered the 6', 3wt tonight.

I took the 5wt out yesterday to a couple of local ponds and I must say I am in love! I knew going into it that it was purported to be more of a 6 than a 5, but that's ok because 6wt is probably my favorite all around line weight.

This rod has enough power to cast a big 2/0 popper for bass and enough delicacy that even a smaller bream is still fun to catch. It also roll casts remarkably well.

I really can't get over what a versatile tool this rod is. Everything about it is just spot on. And best of all, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg (got mine for $99 a month or two ago).

OK.. I am know I am going against the grain here..

I ordered the 7'1" 4wt... The rod is gorgeous, yes.. but it is just too slow for my Fenwick tastes.

Thought about trying the 5wt.. then the 6'4" 4wt... but then just backed out completely.
(the rod I was sent has a half inch long blue thread in it.. right past the label.. ugh!)

I own 3 of the CGR's.. and they are in the rotation. To me, this rod was nothing like them.

Go ahead and call me a weenie.. and I tried to like its action.. but I gave up trying.

WEENIE !!!

I have the 6', 3wt and really like it, but have only yard cast it. I also have cast bunches of ultralight spinning rods that have sliding band reel seats and thought they were great light fly rods. So maybe I just like about everything.

Please properly dispose of all unacceptable Prime rods by shipping to me for inspection and environmentally sustainable recycling. PM me for my address!

I'm in love with the Prime rods. I'm thinking they are made by Echo's supplier? The spiral translucent wraps are awesome! I agree. Send me your Primes that are not up to par and I'll take them off your hands.

I am enjoying my 5wt Prime as a fun warm water rod and am tuning about taking it out in the salt marshes to play with some school is stripers. As long as I rinse it off well afterwards, should I be concerned about the salt? I eventually plan to build up a Seele or Epic 6wt for light saltwater duty but for now, will I be OK with the Prime? I have a trip in just over 2 weeks. Thanks!

My favorite is the six foot 3 weight. It's really great!

I have the 7'1 4wt and love it. I have caught several trout in the 8-14" range without hardly any issues. I love the slow, smooth action. Fit and finish is of great quality, especially given the price. The only issue I have is sometimes getting the fish in the net. Haha. Due to the soft action. I wish they would make a slightly heavier weight, such as a 6 or 7.

Just had UPS deliver the 7'3", 5wt. Took it out back for few minutes between the rain showers. Pretty strong and gusty crosswind going on here so decided to play around with roll casting.

Line was a TT6wt and it did a fantastic job. With a little effort it was laying out over fifty feet of line. Probably one of best roll casters I ever seen.

Hopefully the weather will improve down here so I can try normal overhead casting and some four and five wt lines.

Between the 6' and this 7'3" I could handle most of my fishing needs.

I also really prefer the grip on these rods compared to the CGR's. On the negative side these sure make for long rod tubes.

Barry

Just tried a WF4 and loaded fine with just a little line out, but roll casting was poor. I'm thinking 5wt may be just right for all around line. Strange since that's what they recommend.

Finally some sun and calm winds. Been about three weeks of rain here.

Took the 7'3" out and tried a Cortland 333 DT5F on the rod and couldn't buy a descent loop. Thought might be having a bad day so tried a seven foot rod with same line and worked great.

Next put TT WF6F back on rod and I thought hundred percent better. Could be my casting style is wrong with 5wt line, but for me this rod is a six wt..

Took my 6' 3 and the 7'3" 5 out tody and had a ball with them. Definitely a great set of rods that should follow me around for a long time. Nice thing is the stroke isn't far off from them both.

I love the 7'-1" 4 weight. If memory serves me correct, the slow action reminds me of the Orvis Golden Eagle I owned in the 70's.

I wiggled them at the store, I would like to get one but I have so many rods already, one day I will overcome my inability to sell things.
The Prime rods are slower & more full flexing then the CGR's.

What are you going to use it for hot dish? I have the 5wt and it is an amazing all around Rod. I used it all summer for bass and bluegill with a 6wt line. A dink bluegill is still fun and a 2-3 pound bass bent it in half.
