Well I am super happy with this rod so far! I have only un boxed and yard cast for a short time, so take that review with a grain of salt lol. I will say in the yard casting it is similar to my F2 703, but the line does seem to track a little better less wobble and very accurate. That F2 is my favorite rod, so this FS has its work cut out for it to try and overtake that spot.

I ordered mine custom with the slide ring handle and you can see in the photo that the depression for the reel seat is deep enough the ring sits flat and does not dig into the cork. The ring is thicker metal, when compared to my f and f2 rods.

Very nice Eatfood!

I just got myself an F2 653/3 and took it out for a bash on a brookie creek. I hope that your rod makes you as happy as mine did. BTW, is that the Galvan Brookie 2/3 or 3/4? Where does it balance in relation to the front of the cork fully loaded on your setup?

Thanks! the un-sanded blank is what initially drove me to Scott fly rods in the past (remained me of one of my late grandfather's old Orvis rods). This rod brings that look back and frankly the muted brownish orange is perfect for me. Plus I had no idea that each section would be signed with the serial number - which just makes it seem that much more special. I love this rod and I have not even fished it yet lol.

The reel is a 2/3 and it balances exactly the same as my F2, inches up the blank from the handle. I personally have always liked the tip heavy feel on my light line fiberglass rods, but I recently bought a 4.2 oz Abel tr 2/3 and it balances where it is supposed to on the handle and really feels nice to me too. So long story short, I am not completely convinced that I have the reel weight figured out.

I hear ya about the collection! My wife's caught on now though... She knows a new rods means a new reel and usually a new line too... I like how light your setup is, I'm still carrying too much on my trips.
