All, while I thought I would share a coincidence regarding a Fenwick PLS70 I just received, I also have a question about all Fenwicks including fly rods.

The PLS70 has a serial number of "C 1962"...it took me a second to realize I wasn't reading the year, but rather the serial number. Has anyone ever seen this before? I suppose it has to happen to at least one Fenwick every year of production. This leads to my question; Are Fenwick serial numbers sequential across all models, or does the serial number reflect how many were produced for that particular model, that year? The latter would mean one rod of each model, each year, would have the same serial number as production year (assuming they made that many of a particular model).

In China, that coincidence would be a very lucky number and the rod would be worth a small fortune.

Beauty rod! I have the same model, but later in production. Congrats on finding yours.

Bulldog, thank you, but i've been trying everything...I can highlight the html, but when I do that and click on the Img argument on this page, the photo doesn't load into the reply...clearly I'm not doing it correctly...

Neat coincidence and pretty rod. I love those light, sparkly rings in the glass layup of those C and D Fenwicks. Thanks for sharing.

To add to the coincidence, my first name starts with a 'C' and my birth year is 1962...Ok, I'll stop now...

Now I get why that is so nifty. A few of our west coast members probably know the fella who made that rod for you.
