My son and I came across this vintage Daiwa model 4045 with a carbide tip 8 foot fiberglass fly rod today at a estate sale. After looking at it we decided to buy it.All the guide eyes and wrap are there and in very good condition.I did some research and couldnt find anything out on it.I also bought a Zebco crappie classic CR 10 spinning reel and cant find anything on that.I do own a Zebco fly reel too.Im wondering if anyone on here has heard of this fly rod model and of the spinning reel?

It's a great rod with very little value. I purchased a similar Daiwa (butt over tip) that was set up just as your (mine came with a zebco underspin). the rod is a 6/7wt rod that was converted into crappie duty. I would check the model number, but I lent it out.

That looks like an earlier, metal ferrule model. As an 8' rod, I would try it with a 6wt or 7wt line, whichever you have or can borrow and see how it casts.

I have a similar rod, the Daiwa 1345, and the little information I've found on it led me to try it with a 7wt line. I really enjoy it, and it was very cheap.

Should be able to search here and find some info. Mostly, like above, inexpensive, good fishing tool.

I have found Daiwa rods to be quite capable casting rods. My 8' Daiwa is recommended for 7 weight line, which it is well suited for. The 8' 3045 is 8 weight, according to the SAN Line Chart included in the wiki pages.

I have a Daiwa 2045 that I stripped the baby poo brown paint job to reveal a really nice tobacco weave blank. Don't know why they felt compelled to paint them.... anyway after a new set of guides it's a really nice 7 weight, sleeper rods for sure.

Find it and fish it! I love blue collar rods. I've got a Berkley Apache I haven't even used. It's exciting to buy a budget rod and fall for it after taking landing a few fish.

Daiwa rods do not get much press, but they are good rods. Their 8' rods were mostly 7 wts ---take it fishing and enjoy.
