Hi everyone

I bought this rod at a local shop for $2. The cork and reel seat are pretty busted up and missing but for $2 I thought id give it a shot. I got it home and I'm having trouble identifying the company name on the rod- Af&w? AfeW? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The name is AL&W.I think the full name may be Alcock Leight&Westwood.I could be wrong,I'm just picking something out of my memory from about 50 years ago.Im almost positive the A was for Alcock. The rod looks very well preserved for its age.

I looked the name up and I was right .I was out by one letter. It was Alcock Laight & Westwood. The company made the Creek Chub Pikie Minnow, which was where I have seen the name before. Was the rod made in Canada by any chance.

At first I didn't notice that you said the grip and reel seat were in bad shape. That can be repaired .

Thanks for the reply! Yes the rod was made in Canada as far as I know. Not sure if it's a fly rod or not. I'm thinking not... I'll have to do some searching with the name you gave me there. Thanks so much for the help! Good memory!

only the reel pages, but I have those from Al&W for 1939, '51, '56, and '66

if you keep googling, somewhere you can find the Toronto public library with AL&W catalogs online

Thanks!

i did manage to find the Toronto public library bits and tons of info on the company in general but I have failed thus far to come up with the model name or number that's printed on the rod. I'll keep looking but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of specific rod model details.
