Haven’t posted in a long time since life has me busier than ever, so what little free time I have I’m fishing within a semi-reasonable drive from the house. Awhile ago, I had Bob Hallowell make me one of his black fiberglass rods (rolled by Mike McFarland) after demo’ing his 3pc 8'1" 5wt. In short, this rod is one of those “do it all” tapers that both casts in close and at distance. I’d describer the action as progressive and can really throw some line if needed. The more line you put out, the deeper the rod loads. Finally, the Hallowell feels light in hand and feels like it has a crisp/quick recovery so in general on the faster side of medium. I find myself choosing to fish this rod quite a bit over the past month because of its versatility (dries, small streamers, dry/dropper). Anyways I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking…

Agreed! That’s a fantastic rod! I fished with Bob last month when he was in Colorado and he let me fish his 8’1” 5wt. It’s a sublime stick!

Agreed! Bob's 8'1" 5wt 3pc is a fantastic all-around glass 5wt. Suh-weet and versatile...what more could you ask for?

Like it all. Fine photographs and the appearance of a winning combination of rod and reel.

I like it with a tt long belly line. Although being biased I think it handles all 5wts well
