With our forests and streams closed to access, Aurelio felt pity for me and we arranged to trade some fishing at his place for a dove hunt with me in the fall.

It was the first time we have met in person and what a great guy. I learned several things from him that will change the way I fish. I learned the joy and quickness of a short rod, that he has the fastest hitting trout in the region, a hook trick to improve hookups, and how to steer the trout away from undesired obstacles by pointing the reel at them. It really works.

If you ever fish with him, you will notice that his rod is almost always bent.

Pretty water and trout!

Some of his water is the most fertile I have ever seen. On one stream there were mayflies, caddis, crane flies, and stoneflies over the water at the same time.

Plus I was able to buy one of his really cool hats with his great logo.

Pray for more rain to put out the fires here and thanks!

PS: His 6 ft Steffen and 6 1/2 ft Scott F-3 are pretty darn awesome. I fished with my 6 1/2 ft Lamiglas on the smaller streams and my 7 1/2 ft Lamiglas on the slightly larger water.

Awesome! Aurelio is a great guy and the water around his place is fantastic. I'm bummed that I can't make his clave this summer but I'm hoping I can make it down there again next year.

That is my kind of fishin', and thank you for a great report. I too hope to attend one of Aurelio's 'claves.

Praying for rain. Getting a little in COS area, but looks like no relief yet out your way.

I’d love to get down there Aurelio but with family camping trips and summer guests visiting us I’m finding it hard to get anything else scheduled. I still fish every weekend but I have to stay close to home. I’ll send you a PM sometime later this summer! Take care my friend!
