We all know the purpose of fishing isn't really about catching the fish... it's about something else... when it's just me, my favorite rod & reel, standing alone in my favorite river (even in the wrong time of year) & my favorite warm water fish happens to show up for a cameo is a little extra perk.

Hope you enjoy the peacefulness of the photos.

That's a beautiful place! Would you tell us what kind of trees those are?

Thank you. Glad you like them.

Those are cypress trees.
There's probably a more accurate & official name - but that's what we call them in this part of Texas

That looks incredibly peaceful.

I couldn't agree more. Sometimes just shouldering other things aside and getting away is a victory. Not to say we don't all enjoy the tug.

Is this the Texas hill country? I've never spent time in Texas, but pics like these sure make me want to go.

Thanks for posting.

Sometimes when I’m fishing, I simply sit down and enjoy the place I am. Yes, more to it than catching fish.

I remember that trip Ron, that was a great trip you took me on and I think that was the first fish I caught with that sweet little NOS 6' one piece Lee Wulff 2070 garcia/conolon rod that Andymanyankee made for me.

in addition to ebay buys, this forum was built around those rods - other than a custom-rolled blank from Mark Steffen, that crate of NOS blanks that Andy found was the only source of new glass anywhere then.

In addition to a 6' one-piece, which I sold to Joe Filer for his grandson's first rod, Andy made a 7' one-piece for me, named it the Cats Whisker, which I still have, and is my daughter's go-to hill country rod

I completely agree about fishing. Great pictures, too. Have read so much about the hill country.
