Thanks for organizing this. I will have to look at the calendar, but I may be able to come down for this.

I talked to my son, Ryan, and he said he'd be interested. I'd love to. There's a guy I work with that says his in-laws are in Gardiner and they have a place where we could stay. My dad said he might be interested in coming so he could post a bear watch for fly fishermen. lol

jhusky, dad's not really a fly fisherman, although we got him a redington ct outfit a few years ago. He loves the mountains though and would have a camera in his hands at all times. Dad has told us that when he's gone he wants his ashes spread on top of a mountain. We lost mom April 1 of 2016 and she wanted her ashes spread at the bottom of whatever mountain dad's ashes were on top of - because she was afraid of heights. :lol True story. So this would also be a trip for dad to say where he wants them to spend eternity - so to speak.

Sorry for the loss of your Mom modad2010 - really like her sense of humor, and hope your Dad has many more years. Hope to see you all there.

Here’s something to get everyone started. This is my favorite author of fly fishing guides to Montana.

Sounds fun. My annual trip is usually the first two weeks of July, might have to adjust, but I do like the beginning of July.

All fisher women and significant others welcome. Yellowstone Park is close by and is a good excuse to get others to come out.

Will try to fit it into our trip this summer.

Think you'll find these Claves take on a life or there own. Mark, Rod, and I started the Bozeman Boo Bash some years back and others have picked up the ball to keep it going.

Two piece rods are a pain in the ass when traveling by air John :)
So, no I don't think so.

I'm also really excited to meet friends from this forum (and classic fly rod forum) after many (at least 10+) years!

Any plans for fishing during this Clave Dusty?
Or are we going to drown in BBQ saus the whole weekend? :D

Yes they are Jay, at least in these modern times - 20-30 years ago not so much.
Safe travels all!

Would love to attend. But not sure if it will happen. The Bozeman Bamboo gathering may be a few weeks later (don’t think the date has been finalized yet). I have been envolved with that for the last few years, so it might be tough for me to attend both. We will see....

Heck my first trip to Montana in 1992 I brought along a Sage 690LL two piece rod! :)
Boy when I cast the Sage 490LL four piece at Blue Ribbon Flies I was sold!

The restrictions after 9/11 are not fun anymore when carrying anything that long of a rod.

This is why I no longer travel. I told my wife that I have established a 200 mile radius from my home. If I can't get there by car I'm not going. :) And, really, I have no need to travel. I live in Montana and have everything I could possibly want right here. :)

Big reason we bought an RV coach - bathroom is close by and I can bring as many 2 piece rods as I want. Home on wheels. :)
