I did a little prank at the Classic fly rod forum some 6 years ago. I would send my my favorite hopper pattern to members for free and as a return favour they had to fish it with a bamboo rod and post pictures of the fish caught with it. It was great fun! Too bad Photobucket screwed up the pictures recently...

Now I'm thinking about doing a same one here. Because of the amount of work and logistics involved, I'd like to keep here to a max of 5-6 members (one of them needs to be Dusty Smith since he is living in prime 'hopper-land'! :) ).

So this is the idea:
I'll send out two Alien Bugs per member. You have to fish it with your glass rod and post picture(s) of the fish caught on this topic.
So what do you guys think about this?

This is a really cool idea! I wish more people pulled pranks like yours! If you are looking for volunteers to be pranked, I volunteer as tribute. :)

Same here. I have everything laid out ready to go and it when it comes time I can't find the tool I'm looking for. I find myself wondering how the whip finisher ended up underneath the couch.

Similar sentiment, for me its usually a sleeve knocking my piles about while I search for the whip finisher.

Thanks for doing this----great project! Looks like a top notch hopper you tie.

I would have jumped but I'll be away for a bit...If I get back in time, I know a couple of fantastic fall hopper spots and will try to add a photo.

Yes, I really enjoy pranks like this. Done similar pranks several times over the years.
It started somewhere early 1990's when I sent to a NZ guide who said he would like to try a few Humpy's of mine and he'll send (real!) pictures of the fish that he would catch with the Humpy's.

Well, anyway enjoy the ride guys! :)

Received two Hoppers from ibookje late in the week and was excited to get started fishing them; thanks Jay for setting this up and sending the flies, they arrived via their flight from The Netherlands in good condition.

Fished about 45 min last night in an industrial drainage pond and then again this morning for 1.5 hours in a
drainage canal; all located in my home town.

Fished with a CRG 4/5. No fished loss once hooked with this fly and it casts nicely. After fishing the fly, catching these fish, having numerous small gills try to dismember it, pulling the fly out of several trees and dragging the fly through weed beds it's still in the same condition as when received.

You're forgiven for being from the Nederlands where all they have are trout but those are largemouth bass. I'll try to get to a pond soon and try to add another big mouth bass to the list. Also have place one in the White River box for trout and won't use that one until I get there next month.

We only have stocked trouts in ponds and lakes as we don't have mountains here.
Those bass spieces are sometimes a bit hard to distinguish
