Got out again on one of my favorite streams while I still can before the water gets too warm to fish until September. I usually set the cutoff at 65 degrees, they're still registering at 62 or 63 for now.
I'm hoping the extra rain might shorten the warm water window this year. Anyway, boatloads of brookies and even the rare brown. I rarely catch a brown up here, in fact I could count the number I've caught in these streams on one hand. But they're always colorful, guessing the clean and cold water has something to do with that.

Pretty water. Is it a trick of the light, or is it really that tea-stained?

Nice water and fish. Reminds me of tannen stained waters in the Poconos in Pennsylvania.

Not a trick of the light. It's quite remarkable the kind of brownish-red hue these streams have, further accentuated when we get measurable rain. There's a stream not far from there that is essentially coffee colored year round, even in low water conditions.

Here, I was using a Fenwick FF605. I alternate between that and my FF535 for small blue lines. 605 is a better distance caster, but the 535 blows it away in the roll casting department.
