The local streams are in nice shape after a wet winter, and after a series of mishaps regarding the state posting regulations differently in different mediums and a tank of gas, I ended up at one of my local year round trout streams. It looks a little something like this from the road:

This is typically where I enter, and work up and back down. Today, however, I didn't feel like fishing dries, so I walked a couple of miles up the adjacent gated logging road until I found a suitable trail down to the river. I worked my way down without success until finding this pool:

I rarely hook up with, let alone land, more than one on this stream, but they always look pretty much like this:

And I like that. Interestingly enough, I ran into two older gentlemen (the only other humans that I've ever seen there,) who were fishing tenkara rods; they had similar luck and attitudes. All in all, it was a nice day. I'll leave you with some of the local flora, for your viewing pleasure:

Beautiful looking area and pretty fish. Too bad some people leave their trash for others to pick up.

Familiar looking stream. You did better than my last trip there ;) Love light rods for water like that.

The beer cans haven't started to bloom yet, this far inland. Nice views! Thank you.

That pool should have a neon sign over it saying "trout here". Was that a coastal cutthroat in the picture?
