Anyone else have any experience with these rods that have come up on ebay? I bought the 7' 3wt and spent some lawn time with it yesterday. I have to say, I am pretty impressed, especially for $55. Put together well and casts nice, though I am probably going to try a four weight line as it's on the faster side of glass.

I just ordered the five weight.

I've cast a friends 5 weight and have to say it felt pretty good. Definitely on the faster end of glass. I would probably fish it with a 6 weight line.

I've been thinking about picking up one of the 3wts as well. $55 is hard to pass up, it's priced like an (old) CGR on sale, looks like a little BH.

The reel seat is uplocking, right? I recall seeing it say downlocking in the listing and thinking it didn't look like it.

It is uplocking. A pretty nice piece of hardware too. I am surprised by the quality of the components.

Are these the fiberglass rods from China?

They are. They have a 3 and a 5 weight all 3 piece.

They look like pretty good rods, especially for the price. I just may order one.

I have one of their reels. Bought it for about 20 bucks on ebay. It's nothing more than a line holder, but it does hold line well.

Looking forward to seeing how the five weight does when it gets here.

I hope you post updates to the thread. Is it coming direct from China? It didn't take long for the reel to get here.

Spigot ferrules? E- or S- glass, if known?

I have had the 8' five weight for several months and fished it several times. It is on the faster side and handles both 5 and 6 rather well. Mine shipped directly from China and arrived in about a week. The rod has spigot ferrules. The information regarding the 7' three weight indicates that it is built on a Blue Halo blank.

Can anybody who's fished one of these compare the action to similar weight CGR or Eagle Claw?

I received a 3wt a few days ago and have spent a couple of hours at the casting ponds with it, no fish yet. With a WF3F GPX (half weight heavy) it felt pretty good. A Cortland Peach DT3F felt a lot more delicate and still pretty good. An Airflo WF4F (super dri elite trout) felt a tad heavy, but not bad in close. I might try later with an Orvis superfine WF4F and see if the shorter head makes a difference.

Definitely stiffer and faster than a CGR I'd say (I have all of them), but perhaps not as fast & stiff as the new Fenglass. I do like the components. One odd thing though was the two stripping guides, which seems unusual for a glass rod (?) Should make a nice rod to take on my mountain bike and fish ranch ponds for bluegill ...

Awesome, thanks for the reply!
I have a blue 3wt on the way, which color is yours? I wanted white but they're sold out everywhere.
Will be loading mine with SA Mastery Trout DT3F on a Redington Drift 3/4. Also have a Martin 61 that I will prob put a cheap WF3 or 4 in, just to play around with the old reel and try a different line.

I cast a few more lines with this rod, and was pleasantly surprised at the way it handled all of them. Orvis superfine wf3f and wf4f worked well, as did a SA mastery trout wf3f. Enjoy ! (next just need to go find some fish :) )

I am liking the rod more and more. It is an actual 3wt but can put a dry or small nymph out there if you need to. This is from a headwaters stream in the coast range.

Should have mine tomorrow according to tracking. I'm prob gonna be pushing mine, I plan on throwing small bass poppers, streamers, and big dries with it lol. I did this with the little ol' CGR 2wt, so I figure a "fast glass" 7' 3wt should do better.

I just received a 3wt 7'er. The ferrules do not fit cleanly on mine. Is this your collective experiences as well? Any pictures of one assembled?

This is how spigot ferrules are supposed to work. Google it. Don't alter them. I really like my 3wt.

Please explain what you mean by "fit cleanly". We'll see if we can help.

Mine FINALLY arrived yesterday afternoon, thanks a lot USPS for losing it between NY and AL.

Initial impressions- fit and finish is nice for $55. Cork is the best I've prob had on a fly rod. Reel seat is nicer than expected as well. I don't care for the second stripping guide, wish it was another snake. My ferrules fit just fine, much more even than any CGR I've seen, prob 3/8 to 1/2 inch gap.
Swing weight on the rod is nice and light, feels good in the hand. Very very little oscillation upon casting, returns to straight very quick, this is for sure "fast" glass. Prob won't be until Mon or Tues before I fish it.

Got out on my usual little lunchtime sunfish spot, a nice shady "creek" (residential runoff ditch with loads of broken concrete for fish to hide under) and did some casting.

Rod feels nice, definitely faster glass than the CGR's I've used and my other current glass, a Daiwa 1345. Still, it loads ok with a SA mastery trout DT3F, and had real nice presentation for a #12 dry. However, I'm not sure if it's the rod, or what, but I was having a harder time with hook-sets, on these dumb little panfish, than I think I've had in a long time. Maybe the tip is a lot softer than I realize, and I need to try strip-setting?
