Hey, all. Even though I was fishing cane, I thought you might enjoy a few photos of my trip back up to Brookie Heaven yesterday.

Local java, Winston mojo, and (precocious) Golden aura.

The aspen will be ablaze in a couple weeks, and Brookie Heaven will be in its full glory.
Image

The beavers have been busy lately and are creating new holes to fish.
Image

The aspen aren't the only locals proudly showing off their fall dress. The brook trout have been fattening up and have become more aggressive lately.

I'm really going to savor the next couple months of fishing. I look forward to seeing your photos of fall fly fishing across the country as well.

Brings back some nice memories. When I was in high school we took a family vacation to Rocky Mountain National Park. I caught countless numbers of brook trout behind beaver dams like the the ones in your pictures. Thanks for bringing back some pleasant memories.

If that doesn't make you want to go out and catch a couple brookies somewhere, I don't know what does? Primo stuff!

Doc- As always, thanks for taking us along.

As someone who also alternates between fishing glass & bamboo, how would you describe the similarities/differences of fishing the Winston bamboo vs the 'stalker' on the same water/conditions?

Hi, cti.

I really enjoy my Winston cane, glass, and graphite rods. And most of these examples in my rod rack share a common denominator: Tom Morgan.

And because of his direction with taper design in all 3 materials, they unsurprisingly fish similarly so I can enjoy their individual nuances without having to change my casting stroke or fishing technique too much.

This is why I have a blank on order!

Hit it again yesterday morning with a buddy for a few hours, this time with glass.

Streamside just after sunrise, and the temp was in the high 30s up near 10,000 ft elev.

Fishing for brookies with a rod from New England felt fitting.

Surprise rainbow here in Brookie Heaven.

Tried the T&T with a H&H DT4, and it felt nice and crisp. Like my Kabuto of the same length, I'll plan to use a #4 or 5 line depending on the conditions.

On the way out, this gal blocked the road until she got her portrait taken.

Gorgeous photos! Fall brookies ... it doesn't get any better. Here in New England only a few leaves have started to change. The brookies are getting their fall colors for sure though! Hooked into one that I didn't land this past week that was probably the most beautiful brookie I've managed to hook. I'll be sure to post some New Hampshire autumn brook trout pictures over the next month.

Thanks for sharing,

-Nic

Your ability to identify and capture exquisite craftsmanship whether rod or nature is surely a sign of one who understands life is too short to not stop and smell the roses (or cows). Well done!

Thanks for the encouraging feedback, all. You know, one of the neat things about our passions is the desire to share them with others. And you all are a most excellent community to share it with.
