I am a new member. Fly fishing 20ish years. Mostly with fast action Sages and Scotts. Mostly in Montana/Idaho/Yellowstone and in Ga and NC. Recently got interested in older fiberglass rods on another forum and then on this one. Bought a Fenwick FF79 online. (i feel like i can walk around the block while backcasting as compared to Sages and Scotts, but i guess that's the point huh?) Took it to the Madison wade section today and hooked and landed an 18" brown whose image is forever lost to my memory as i forget the get the camera out and photo my first ever decent fish on that rod!!! (I have also developed a modest interest in old Medalists, for what it's worth.)

i enjoy this forum. Thanks.

Oh man are you in trouble. You can't believe the pile of Fenwicks and Medalists I have, and I'm a lightweight compared to the true aficionados on this board. Bet that won't be your last such fish!

Congratulations.

Fenwicks and Medalists are meant to go together.

Welcome to the forum. You certainly can't go wrong with Fenwicks and Medalists, they were practically made for each other, two American classics. Kudos on the nice brown.
