On forums throughout the country, including this one, most photo images posted using POSTIMAGE have been erased. This includes the hundreds of photos that I posted for the Heddon and Shakespeare Catalog threads. What a shame!

Some forums allow direct from your computer loading and these seem to last as long as the forum, using third party hosts seem to eventually end in loss to the forum. I can't figure out how/if that is possible here though.

Mark,

I know it's a pain, but there's a way to get pics back. If you do an edit of any post, each picture will show postimage.org or postimg.cc twice. If you take the second posting.org and replace the .org with .cc the pictures will come back. Or you can change both .org to.cc and they will come back.

Recent photo posts that are working show:

/postimages.org/][img]https://s7.postimg.cc

Not as painful as sounds once you do a few.

Barry

We're talking a few hundred photos. I've basically had it as far as image-hosting companies go.

No one can blame you, that was a lot of work down the drain.

Over 300 photos on the classic bamboo forum also down the drain. Like being punched in the stomach.

FYI from another website:

postimg.ORG domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice.
While we hope to resolve the issue, we chose postimg.CC as our new home.
Please update codes embedded in your websites.

Doesn't sound like they're gone, just that the link address has changed.

IMHO another reason for forums to host their own pics.

Don't panic and delete everything like some did when PhotoBucket changed. Just wait a bit and see if the issue is resolved or if someone comes up with a workaround like the PB fix.

Mine posted a week ago disappeared. Those posted Thursday or later shows the postimg.cc are fine. Went back and revived thirty or so in a couple minutes by doing the .cc thing.

Of course if they change the system back will everything revived be lost.

I doubt all will be lost on the revert. They will just redirect postimage.cc back to postimage.org . I wonder if they didn't like a commercial service using a .org name.

After the Photobucket debacle, and now Postimage, I'm done with it. I don't have the time or patience to change over 752 photos. These places need to seriously get their **** together.

if you have an account with PI, they arent erased.
if you used a generic link without a log in account, then your photos are probably gone.

I host my photos on PI in folders with a log in account and have not seen any lost

I do have an account that still has all my photos. They're not gone. It's just that transferring them again to the catalog threads (over 600 photos, between this forum and the bamboo forum) is no longer in me. I went through this before with Photobucket, and I just can't do it again. I do still have all the catalogs, so anybody who needs information should feel free to PM me.

That's such a bummer on this posting images thing. Were at the mercy of the providers when it's free. Not to soon and it ALL will be "pay to play".

Is there a "fix" to Photobucket?

I have almost 15 years worth of photos on Photobucket but haven't uploaded there in over a year because you cannot post to a forum.

Thanks,
Chris

The Postimage photos on the bamboo fly rod site were restored by the Admin there, working with both Dreamhost and Postimage. Perhaps the Admin here could do the same?

Thought worth remembering. Free items are frequently worth every penny.

Everyone should have learned their lesson with Photobucket a long time ago.
