Haha. Sorry, Larry it is one of my favorites, though: reminds me of your great good humor and why it's fun to fish with you!

This forum was built on the Texas Hill Country, through both drought and monsoon.

Ron,

Nice photos. I too love the Guadelupe ... it's been way too long since I was on/in it.

I crossed over the Lampasas River today near the town of Lampasas up here in the "Highland Lakes" area and it was flowing fast and high and looked like molten milk chocolate. That river won't be fishable for a long time (don't know the CFS). I did find a beautiful creek just north of the town of Oakalla. It was clear and flowing well. It's not named on any map I've got and I'm sure strictly private property. I've got to hang out at the general store in Oakalla and see if I can meet some landowners!

If you don't get tired of looking at the photos, and you're caught up on your browser free hot link add-on, here's a place to look.

and I changed my mind about the hat and the cap - it does apply

My wife’s family lives on the Guad near Hunt, between the Wagonwheel crossing and the Boy Scout camp. Anyway, we are going to be out there for 10 days or so in April to Turkey Hunt and would enjoy crashing y’alls get together.

Bulldog, you’re right about the area in “downtown” Hunt. Good fishing and traffic. Plus, you’ve got Rio Rancho when you’re tank needs filling.

Chuck,
The dates for the gathering have been moved back to May 18-20. Wish you could be there for it.

Bud: Look forward to seeing you again.

great food at Rio Rancho
the coffee and pastry on TX39 right by the FM1340 turnout is also choice, and we've used it as a meeting place before with folks coming from both Austin and SA.
Schumacher's Crossing is the single prettiest spot in Texas

my daughter caught her first fish from that rock with the cypress between the two weir drops

Wagonwheel is possibly the best wade in all of Texas, though the sight-fishing for pod bass begins around the first bend, it keeps getting better and better, with a natural flagstone lake a half-mile downstream from the road.
One of our monsoon floods lifts the flagstone, building a hole and a dam at the same time.
It's one of those hip pocket places that you don't hit more than once/yr

We got to witness a new one of these form and mature down from the Y crossing in Center Point.
With a cold creek coming in from the side, where the two flows meet stacks fish.
Also big bass coming up onto the flagstone above the lake can be killer sight-fishing, watching the minnows jump out of their way.

Bulldog, if you look straight up the bluff in that last picture, is their house. The stairs in the background are theirs.

good fishing around the stairs, and if you look close at the stairs, you can see my far-away buddy is fishing it
