Back in my (relative) youth, we used to go up some pretty rough jeep roads. Often, when we drove as far as we could, we'd start walking, only to find find a parked VW beetle. Soooo, if anyone has a '68 Volksbuggen, that might work! :-)

That's funny - I was stationed at Pearl Harbor back in 1973-76 and had a 74 VW bug (super beetle). There was a road around the island of Oahu but on the West side past Makaha it was a 2-track nasty trail for about 15-20 miles. The VW made it just fine... Well kinda just fine, I did not die.

I’ll be driving out and spending a few days after in Colorado. I have a mix of fiberglass and bamboo rods I’ll be bringing. I’m looking forward to meeting some new people, casting some great rods, and getting to fish the New Mexico streams again.

I’m counting down the days. I will have my truck, it’s not 4wd, but it’ll be better than a rental car. I know the plan was to fish Colorado on Saturday so I was going to buy my license ahead of time to start on Saturday. Is there a chance we will be in Colorado on Friday? I just want to make sure when I buy it ahead of time I have everything covered.

Is there a chance they might reopen the forest after the 4th? It certainly makes sense to have it closed and keep the people out during the holiday.

Well the clave has started and I got to cast Brandon's Mc Farland 3wt. 8'8" ,nerver liked his rods in the past got to cast some yellow Mc farlands that did not do anything for me but this black glass rod was the smoothest rod and no tip bounce I ever had in my hands and I have cast a lot of rods.If only I could find a use for such a long rod...again this rod was pure perfection........aurelio
