Thank you for the add.

My name is Jens Magne, am a Norwegian born and breed. Somewhat belonging to the tail end of the"glass"generation, not a big flyfisher, but have my Hardy Fibalite Perfection 9 feet 7 weight, that I got along with the rest of the affilitated stuff as a confirmation gift in 83. Also have a J W Young Condex that I inherited from my father last year, which he used loaded with a straight line and a 5 meter rod for dapping trout in brooks and streams when I grew up as well as his more modern carbon stuff.

The 3,5 inch Condex I think are an older one, as it has a massiv spool, but it is in a regular black dimpled paint, not that Dunlop green thing. Am thinking of pairing those two for some remembrance fishing, or look for something age appropriate for the Condex, not that I would know what that would be.

Tips on that would be appreciated, preferably British stuff.

Local brooks and streams are 10-15 minutes away, and if not filled to the gill, habitated with good amounts of Brown Trout and Grayling and the local ponds and lakes have good amounts of Brown Trout, Perch and Pike along with other white fishes.

Anyhow, glad to have found you fellows, and glad to be aboard. :-)

Thigh lines, from Norway

JensM

Jens, welcome. You are in a great place to put a bend in glass. Spent 3 months there (jan-mar) in 1988, and have since dreampt of going back to fish. Look forward to seeing more.

Jens,

Matching the Condex to the Hardy Fibatube will work, but a 7wt WF line may be a bit tight. I wish I could help you with vintage European rod selections. Those old JW young reals with the black, dimpled paint are classics. Putting together a rod and reel to fish for remembrance is a great way to walk back in time. Especially when some of the equipment belonged to your father.

My father didn't fish, but I have rods or reels that have come to me with a story about their owner. It is nice to go fishing and remember the past owners of these rods and reels.

Lost a bit track of this, as life brought me elsewhere. Ended up getting a Hardy Smuggler #6 to pair with the Condex, as it has been possibly my ultimate drooling rod, from back then and strongly tied to a memory along with my father.
