Hello!

I just joined the boards and wanted to write up a quick intro. As my name implies, I live in Texas and am an avid outdoor enthusiast. With my career, I am hunting about half of the year. The other six months I have more time to get back to what I grew up doing on the Texas coast - which is fishing. Some of my earliest and best memories are summer trips to Colorado. We stayed outside of Creede towards the headwaters of the Rio Grande and that's where I cut my teeth with a fly rod. I am lucky enough to still get back up to Colorado pretty often (will be in the Vail area next month) but more of my fly efforts are on the gulf coast and rivers/lakes of central/south Texas.

I have always fished graphite but am really excited to start fishing glass. I have two rods on order right now... One is a 75p from Chris Barclay and the other is a 3wt blank from Blue Halo that Jory Ward is in the process of building for me. I have my eyes on - of course - about a million others but I figured this is a good place to start, for now!

I look forward to frequenting these boards.

Welcome! I think you'll enjoy it here! I'm originally from Texas (born in Tyler, raised in Houston, educated [just barely] in Austin :lol ) but moved to Colorado after college in 1993. We still have family in Texas (Houston, Austin and New Braunfels) and make it back once a year. Good choice on your first brace of fiberglass rods!

Welcome. Which part of Texas? We have quite a few Texas members. Although I'm in Oklahoma, some of us here get together with some our Texas brethren once or twice a year.

Larry,

Currently southwest of San Antonio but we will be moving to the Hill Country West of San Antonio in the near future. I get down to the coast pretty often this time of year like I said, and also have a few good buds in the Fort Worth area.

Welcome! Man, you don't fool around, do you. You decided to start with the best (75p). It might take a little mental adjustment going from long graphite rods to shorter glass, but I think you'll really enjoy it.

Hah, thanks! Yea, I tend to go "all in" for better or worse. Can't wait to get that one.
