Looks to becoming a nice fishing weekend. Initially did not plan to stay the whole weekend, but I don't want to miss out meeting up with everyone. May have to talk with (convince) my wife of a longer stay :).

Yeah I'm excited for that weekend also. Lou I did convince the wife another night was needed. It's very necessary to hang out with you guys and ohh and ahh over as many fly rods as possible! :P

So I arrive Thursday, fish all day Friday and leave sometime on Saturday!

So, not to gild the lily any further....but to gild the lily further, there is a fine eating establishment and brewery in Greenfield called The People's Pint (http://www.thepeoplespint.com/).

And there is also the Deefield Fly Shop for supplies if you need them (http://www.deerfieldflyshop.com/).

I used to live in Sunderland, MA, about 30 mins away from Charlemont and now I'm overly excited for May.

A piece in the local online news showed up about the Deerfield River and the local TU chapter's efforts. There's a survey we might consider taking after our trip in May. Have a look:

Hey Guys,
We're getting down to a month away. Just a quick "mind jogger" for anyone considering to meet up at the Deerfield. I plan on being there May 19-20th.

Hi All,
Getting down to a week or so away. Curious who may be coming...would like to meet up on the river Friday afternoon. Picket Pin and I will be on the river fishing in the am. I understand some guys will be meeting Thursday afternoon and then again that evening at a restaurant in Greenfield. There are closer places in Shelburn Falls. Please chime in as to what you may be planning. Thank you, Lou

Lou my buddy Dave and I arrive on Thursday. Looking forward to meeting up with you guys! Red Rose told me we can use the hotel grounds or even better the river frontage across the street for rod casting if we have or make time for that?

My only plans so far are a float trip all day Friday on the Deerfield. And dinner with all on Thursday night. What are you guys thinking for Friday evening? Is anything planned for Saturday morning?

Russ

Russ,
Great idea...the owner of the Red Rose Motel is very accommodating. I stayed there a number of times during family weddings, etc. Nice open spaces for a gathering/meeting place for lawn casting, etc.
Also, the West End Pub in Shelburne Falls may be a good place for a meal or two....about 5 minutes from the Red Rose. http://www.westendpubinfo.com

Just a sidelight: Berkshire East (formerly Thunder Mountain) ski area also offers zip lining for those inclined to give it a try. www.berkshireeast.com

Hello
Still pondering a jaunt to the Deerfield.
Planning to be a possible day tripper, really only interested in the Rod Gathering and Casting Events if any.
If you can give me a more concrete time line I can plan my visit.
If this is just a fishing trip, restaurant, bar thing have fun raise a glass for me and all that.
Any information will be appreciated .

a couple guys have asked, so here's what i'm thinking...
we can meet up for casting, tackle talk, horse-trading, free advice, etc. on Saturday morning. myfly has a spot adjacent to the Red Rose motel, right on the river in Charlemont. we can muster there,
say 9 or 10 a.m. what say ye? of course all are welcome to join us. show your fiberglass fly rod at the door and admission is free!
myfly should have a few rare gems and hen's teeth for show and tell (and cast) :-)

Andy, there's no "gender" in fly fishing :). Thought Ladyfisher fit in very well in our previous claves.
Hope to see you guys there.
