Hello all. My name is mitch. I have been fly fishing and tying for close to 18 years. Just now getting into fiberglass rods. I currently have an eagle claw 5/6 and just purchased a blue halo 7wt which I plan on using for smallies and largemouth bass. Most of the fishing in my area is ponds and lakes. Although once a year I get to the driftless area of iowa and try to make trip to arkansas to fish the white river for trout. I also love the smallmouth fishing down there.

Welcome, IAFLYFISHER! You've made a good start down the fiberglass 'slippery slope' with some great rods. Tight lines!

Hey Mitch. Welcome to the group. I've never fished the Iowa side of the Driftless but I hear it's very good!

Have you tried Smallmouth on the Root or on the Big Muddy above Coon Rapids or the St Croix? Pretty damn good Smallmouth fishing.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have not crusty but I will have to give them a try. I live in the far s.w. iowa all I fish for locally is bass, crappie, and sunfish. I have to travel about 5-6 hrs to get into trout.

My bad, the Missouri fishing you mentioned is probably just as close or closer.
