With our recent move to North Carolina and all that ensues with uprooting and moving halfway across the country, I have not been able to get the details for this year's Coulee Conclave settled, until now!
I am planning on having the second annual Coulee Conclave this coming May 19-21 in Viroqua, Wisconsin. I will have more details soon - mark your calendars and stay tuned! (Also look out for a Carolina Conclave this fall!)

I'll be posting info regularly here:

:D I promise not to have to bail out like last year - least I sure the heck hope so anyway. :D

Same luxury accommodations at the Hickory Hilton?

Umm.... you happened to pick Syttende Mai weekend. Westby's celebration has typically been one of the largest in the country. It's going to be insanely busy in the area that weekend. Just sayin'.

In my dad's case, very cheap beer. But the official drink is Aquavit.

Oh man. Well I put in my request off. Guess I just gotta keep my fingers crossed. Last year was good times.

@joefriday... thanks for the heads up... still too green to the area to know when the festivities happen around here.

This year I'm planning on HQ'ing at Sidie Hollow Campground. We'll have more room for casting and it will be more economical for folks.
It's not that far from the Hickory Hill(ton) so I think that suggesting for folks to stay there is realistic.
I'm calling in to Vernon County today to make sure it's ok to HQ there.

That's a great location and shouldn't be any problem. A second option would be Esofea Park slightly north of there.

I'm guessing it's going to be tough to get in and have a feast at Dave's or anywhere else in the vicinity. So I'd like to throw out that I'd be more than happy to help with a meal one of the days/ evenings. I've got a nice sized Char-Grill that I could haul to HQ. This is all riding on the hopes that I don't have to work at the driftless that weekend.

That'd be GREAT!! (Much better prospects than the opening feast of hot dogs last year!) Let's keep in touch...

I can't miss this. Couldn't go last year. Grilling would be great and as long as I'm there I'd be happy to lend my culinary skills. Asian beef tacos sound good?

I know from first hand experience how great the trout fishing is, but how close are the prospects of big smallies or a northern pike from shore?

The Mississippi is not far from Viroqua. Then there's the Wisconsin River at about an hour away.

Great to see that it is on the calendar and I hope to be there again this year.....I guess if we are going to cook for ourselves collectively maybe I can whip up a big batch of smoked trout dip as an appetizer before Chris' hot-dogs. Got to catch a few fish down here first though!

What are the rates at the Hickory Hillton, and what are the prospects of rooms being available given the aforementioned festive occasion coinciding with the Conclave?

Weekend. Middle of May. Plus huge festival near by. I'd book sooner than later if I was looking to stay.

Other options are to use Airbnb or VRBO to find a place. That's what I do and I find it much nicer than a motel.

You could find a place as far away as La Crosse without it being a problem. La Crosse is about a 45 minute drive from Viroqua and there is some of the best trout water halfway between. Not to mention some of the nicest scenery you'll find in the entire Midwest.

Hello everyone!
We're getting closer to the Conclave!
I'm not sure what the Hickory Hill's rates are but like hotdish says - better call sooner than later to see what they can tell you.

I have sites 26-32 at Sidie Hollow reserved- two of these are electric sites and the others are not. I figure that we can work out the logistics of who's using what site closer to the gathering. A week ago when I called to reserve the sites they said that the campground was still wide open so I'm not overly concerned that it'll be crowded.

Our very own joefriday has created a fantastic t-shirt design and I've got a few sponsors lined up for some great raffle items. I'm building a rod for the raffle as well.
Hopefully Dusty will be able to make it as well as Mike McFarland.
The Driftlesss Cafe will be catering pizza and salads Saturday evening and I'm working on getting some beers and other drinks for us.

I should have the sign up info set up this week and will post here when I do.

Thanks for everyone's patience with me as I've been silent this spring. Things have been really busy! But rest assured that this year will be a great time and worth the trip.

More info very soon!!

Hopefully I'll know this week if the Alaska cruise is still on or not. If not, then I'd have to see if I could get that weekend off. If I could, then I would have to try to put things together fast.
