Hello everyone, just got word from a friend up in Viroqua that he's got a rental cabin available.
Sleeps 3 right on a trout stream not far from Sidie Hollow. Contact me and I'll put you in touch with him.

Hello everyone, just had a thought… what would you think about doing the pizza meal at noon Saturday (including raffles) to open up the opportunity to fish the likely evening hatch? I’d need to make sure that’d work for the Cafe… let me know your thoughts...

A lunch instead of dinner works for me. I usually get off the water around noon and take a break until 3pm anyway.

wow.. that's a very cool website, Eric... thanks for sharing! At first I only saw Minnesota listings, but somehow I got into the WI side, too. I'll definitely be bookmarking that.

Just a heads up to anyone who hasn't checked out the weather outlook for the weekend. Pack accordingly as it looks like it's going to be a wet weekend as of right now. Actually a wet week. Looks like the rain will start Wednesday.

Just packed up the raffle rod, and am trying to do the bulk of the rest of my trip preparations. This Clave can't get here soon enough.

Hello everyone,
It's looking like it'll be wet so bring rain gear, speedos, tarps and anything else to stay dry.
I'm working on an alternate location for lunch Saturday in case it's too wet. I'll somehow notify everyone when/if that happens.

I'm packing the car and will be leaving this afternoon - arriving in Viroqua tomorrow sometime to look for alternate locations, fish, and get set up.
If you need to reach me, give me a call, text or email as I won't be checking the forum much. three three six-745-93 two two. I don't get very good phone service there but will check when I can.
See ya'll soon!

Well I'm sure some are curious about conditions after all the rains last night...

https://forecast.weather.gov/product.ph ... suedby=ARX

I drove down into the valley today and found anything from chocolate to stained, but fishable. Ran into an angler that's camped up over at the west fork and he said everything was chocolate over there.

My advise, start planning to fish small streams. Running north to south or south to north, that are less than 4mi in length. They tend to clear the fastest. More rain in the forecast for Wednesday. I'll keep you all posted. ImageImageImageImageImage

Oh btw. I guess its also Tenkarafest this weekend. So Chris and Dusty... If you're getting ready to unveil a new tenkara rod in the works, you've got clientele ;)

No Tenkara from LRC. Hopefully the streams clear a bit.

Thanks so much for the update and tips for those of us less familiar with the area!

Does look like we'll have company.

They've got activities all day Saturday and half day Sunday so if it's pouring we can go not be converted....

Safe travels everyone! Rain, coffee colored cricks, whatever...
Maybe see you tomorrow PM Chris as we are getting in to the campground around 3:00. Need to discuss the 75p :)

There's fishable water out there. Drove by a good bit of it today. The stain is nice. No spooking fish with these conditions. Short strikes will drive you mad! lol. But more rain to come throughout the rest of the day.

Hey everyone, In the fly shop at the moment checking while I have cell connection.
Big rains last night but still lots of good water. Lots of fisherman too. Water is looking good for the next few days.

Details:
I'm in campsite 26. I have 26-32 set aside for us and we have lots of space. These are marked 'Reserved'.
If camping, you'll pay your camping fee at the office 'Iron Ranger'. Cash or checks for the campsites only.
Lots of room to cast and the lake nearby has some great fishing in it too. There's a brookie creek within earshot of my hammock.
Bath house is nearby.

Also note: there are 3 entrances to the park. I'm at the one off of County Road XX. This is where the main entrance is, not the boat ramp or the upper camping area.

That photo of the creek is the exact spot I used to catch crayfish as a kid. :)

And yep, an Amish carriage at Walmart. Gotta love Viroqua.

See you guys tomorrow!
