Hello all,

My name is Nick Bachtel and I have the glass bug. Located in Northeast Ohio I usually fish for steelhead, smallies, carp and panfish but have been known to take a retreat or two the the Allegheny's for wild brookies and browns . Been fishing glass for 5+ years or so now. Recently bought 3 eagle claw glass rods and have been beatin' them up with the carp and smallies. As I type this i have a Fenwick FF857 on the way for steelhead. I fished the 17 year cicada hatch this summer with an eagle claw and my trusty medalist (which lost 3 screws from the vibrations from the long runs) and caught many 25"+ and even some over 30".

I can't say I really like fishing alone so I usually drag my brother or my cousin out with me. They both have the glass bug. What really gets us is dry fly fishing for carp. These were all taken on top with foam terrestrials.

Here are some pics.

I am on the hunt for a 1495 1/2 medalist or similar vintage reel for the new Fenwick in the mail, so I'll be down in the Wanted section here soon.
I also have been youtubing a little bit, and if you need something to watch while you enjoy your morning coffee, take a look. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6Vmmq ... rsWcLcpreg

Welcome Nick! I grew up in your area, over in Lake county. In those days there were no steelhead, the Cuyahoga was so polluted it caught on fire, and no one appreciated how great carp could be. I did fish the same 17 year cicada hatch, 51 years ago. I had a bass/bluegill pond out side my door, and while I now have trout outside my door, I really miss that fishing. People on this forum appreciate all types of fish, so please keep posting what you catch!

Find active fish that are willing to eat or already are eating. Be stealthy and watch for a while to see what they do. And I found the hardest thing in dry fly fishing for carp is being accurate with my fly placement and seeing an opportunity and acting on it instantly. No time for messing around.

Those are some fun-looking carp. I also like the bag of cheetos in the one shot! :)

Oh to be kid again! Love it. Keep doing it, it's one of the few things in life that makes you feel young regardless of how old you are.

Welcome to the board.
