There will be a gathering tomorrow morning at 9am in Alexandria VA

For those crazy enough to join us (Temperature in the 20's and snow on the ground), feel free to join us.

Type in "4 Mile Run Park" into Google Earth and the marker should be right on the soccer field.

The parking lot is off of Mt Vernon Ave on the East side of the road, just South of the S. Glebe Rd-Mt Vernon Ave intersection.

plan on being at the Starbucks on Glebe road at 9am and moving over to 4MR park a bit after that (when we get a critical mass),

We have an Orvis 3wt coming as well as a McFarland 3wt and some vintage rods.

Thanks for the invite Carl but I'm so eaten up with cabin fever that I have plans to leave this morning to fish in the SNP. Talk about freezing your butt off! But please let me know if you guys get together again. I live in in Richmond and have family in NOVA. I would love to meet you guys and cast some glass rods.
Thanks again and keep me in mind for any more such meetings.

OK, so it wasn't a mob, more like 4 crazy guys casting rods in 20 degree weather.

I got to cast a 7'2" #3 Barclay. That is one sweet rod. It's a winner.
Two rods came out of the back of a closet and were fun. A FF 75-4 that really needs to be fished and a partially built Lamiflex (4 or 5' one piece).

The "what a coincidence" award goes to two Dave Lewis 7' 3wt S-glass rods. With 4 people, half of our attendees people owned one of these rods.
I brought a partially finished 8' 3wt McFarland. Not bad if I say so myself. The weather was a bit windy and cold. This rod requires a bit of slowing down for, but has a really nice delicate presentation.

A 3wt Orvis from Cameron's loaner program arrived too. Given the competition of 3wt's I don't think the Orvis stood up, but it was a nice rod. A bit too close to graphite for my taste. Others liked it, but it wasn't for me.

Unfortunately one of the planned attendees couldn't make it, so we were missing 3 of Shane's rods, an Epic, Signature S glass and Kabuto.

Hopefully we will get together later when it is a bit warmer to do this again.

Given the weather, we were not sure it was going to happen, but the mob of 4 survived.
We will try and get another gathering when the weather warms up.

"Fiberglass Flash Mob" is the funniest thing I've read yet this afternoon catching up on the forum ... though I was hoping there was a cool video with techno music plugged in here somewhere. HA ...
